Low Ejaculate Volume

Low ejaculate volume can be caused by retrograde ejaculation (typically due to invasive prostate procedures).

Poor pituitary hormone release (low LH and FSH), an indication that your brain is not stimulating your testicles, is the most common cause we see in the clinic, however.

In addition to low ejaculate volume, the lack of stimulation of the testicles by your brain, often leads to low testosterone levels and a decrease in sexual pleasure since a low volume of ejaculate decreases the intensity of orgasm and pleasure.

The pituitary hormones are often low in “untreated” young men with low testosterone levels and in men who are taking testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) without proper adjustment.

Though there is a right way to take testosterone, when using testosterone replacement therapy (TRT), you are turning off the signal from your pituitary (brain) to your testicles, and seriously interfering with your own body’s natural production of testosterone while often interfering with ejaculate production and ejaculate volume.

If you have low ejaculate volume and you are not using Testosterone Replacement, you should be evaluated properly with a complete hormone panel to include Total and Free Testosterone, Estradiol, Progesterone, LH, FSH, DHEA, DHT, prolactin, TSH, free T3, free T4, insulin and IGF-1.

It’s important that you have a complete testosterone replacement strategy that includes continued hormonal stimulation of your testicles to keep them active and participating.  Proper prostate health also needs to be considered when replacing Testosterone. Though we know that testosterone doesn’t cause prostate cancer, it can lead to an enlarged prostate if not properly managed.

Without proper direct stimulation by the pituitary hormones FSH and LH, the testicles will shrink dramatically. This is an aesthetic issue as well as a functional issue

There are many ways to balance TRT and to stimulate the testicles.

Some popular testicular stimulation medications are Clomiphene, HCG and Gonadorelin. You have to be careful to monitor all sex hormones carefully when participating in TRT and testicular stimulation since an testosterone to estrogen ratio can easily be thrown out of balance when stimulating the testicles with medications.

Also, elevated DHT isn’t uncommon when men are using Testosterone and there isn’t proper and vigilant monitoring with labs.

Obviously, this treatment requires careful management. That’s not an issue for us. Clinicians at Doctors Studio are highly trained in the careful management of labs, monitoring, and precise dosing.
