Harness YOUR regenerative power!

Get Pain-Free with Platelet Rich Plasma

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy is an incredible, progressive, clinically studied therapy that concentrates the power of your own blood plasma to heal injured or degenerated tissues such as collagen, cartilage, tendons, muscle, and bone. Dr. Roy and the Studio team were among the very early users of PRP over 10 years ago.  Since then, we have taken a deep dive into understanding the science and proper application of PRP to ensure the best result possible.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) made from your own blood contains growth factors and anti-inflammatory elements that when injected into a muscle, tendon, or joint, may initiate and accentuate healing.

People of all ages are turning to PRP to treat degenerative and injured joints to relieve pain and restore function.  Many athletes are having PRP injected into their joints to prevent problems, and to regenerate, decreasing their vulnerability to injury.

There is a great deal of research supporting the use of PRP for osteoarthritis and many other orthopedic indications.  You will find many clinics offering PRP but you should know what to look for and what questions to ask.

Where can my PRP be used?

  • Shoulders - arthritis, rotator cuff injury, degeneration
  • Tennis and Golfer's elbow - inflammation and overuse
  • Wrist - degeneration, and pain
  • Fingers - inflammation and arthritis
  • Knee - osteoarthritis, injury, degeneration
  • Ankle - inflammation, and pain
  • Plantar Fasciitis - acute and chronic
  • Bladder - interstitial cystitis, urinary frequency, and urgency
  • Prostate - prostatitis and BPH, urinary urgency
  • Penis - erectile dysfunction, Peyronies, delayed ejaculation
  • Vagina - vaginal dryness, difficulty to orgasm, pain with intercourse

What is Plasma?

Plasma refers to the yellow liquid part of blood; it is the fluid that suspends red and white blood cells and other material in the bloodstream. Plasma includes proteins, nutrients, sugar, and antibodies, among other components.

What are Platelets?

Platelets are a normal component of blood that contain growth factors and other proteins that regulate cell division, stimulate tissue regeneration, and blood vessel formation and promote healing. Platelets also help the blood clot.

Not All PRP is Created Equal

It’s hard to imagine that when making PRP from your blood, there could be a difference from clinic to clinic.  But there is!

You see, the devices that are used at each clinic are different.  In fact, they can be vastly different.  When PRP was first used in medicine, we didn’t know what the optimal concentration of platelets needed to be for various healing challenges.  Or that too many platelets could actually hinder the healing process.

It was after years of trial, observation, and hard science that we have learned there is a sweet spot when it comes to platelet concentration and also other PRP cellular components.  It all depends upon what tissue you are trying to heal, the age and health of the patient, and whether there is an infectious component that needs to be considered.

PRP is created by drawing the patient's blood and centrifuging it.  The tubes that are used, the speed and time of the spin, the types of tubes used and the patient's age and health status are all critical factors.
