What Causes Sagging Skin?

As the years pass by, two proteins – elastin and collagen -that keep our skin firm and smooth are secreted less by our bodies. This leads to an appearance of skin that feels looser, or saggier, and less firm & tight. And that change can happen relatively quickly – women tend to lose about 30% of the collagen in their skin during the first five years after menopause! Men can feel similar effects around the andropause (the ‘male menopause’) where a significant drop in testosterone can lead to saggier skin & a loss of that full, fresh look.
